Luciano Maggiore - Enrico Malatesta STROMBOLI

Stromboli is a sound project by Luciano Maggiore and Enrico Malatesta, based on the development of polyrhythmic and multimaterial possibilities for an electro-acoustic set. The duo uses percussion instruments, playback devices and different kinds of speakers, delving into a dynamic attitude which often reaches silence; here the sonic activity of the performance space and the musicians' action penetrates into complex micro-rhythmic layers in which gesture, material, soundscape and dynamics of the event play a central role.

“intersezioni di vortici, studi ritmici e false chimere” is a suite of ten short compositions for modular analog synthesizer (except for one track that incorporates a few sounds recorded with a microphone). Initially conceived as series of studies on panning and phasing, the work ended to incorporate parts of two other series, all realised in Bologna between November 2011 and March 2012. The cover includes some of Maggiore’s drawings from the same period.
